Q: Please could you tell me if it is permissible to eat in a licensed restaurant? I know that it is not allowed to eat at a table where there is alcohol i.e. someone is drinking it. Please could you let me know of a Hadith or Quran ayah that says whether it is permissible or not?

A:

Muslims must abstain from eating at such places. The Hadith strongly directs us to abstain from places of doubt and suspicion.
