Title: LIFE AND MISSION OF MAULANA MOHAMMAD ILYAS

Author: MAULANA ABUL HASAN ALI NADWI

Publisher: HAJI ARFEEN ACADEMY KARACHI

Pages: 169

The author starts of by mentioning a detailed background & life history of Maulana Mohammed Ilyas (R), a very dedicated scholar of Deen. History has borne testimony to his acceptance, for not a single place in the world can be found except that the fruits of his efforts have reached there to. The founder of the Tablighi Jamaat Movement, the reviver of the lost effort of the Holy Prophet, Dawah, is none other than himself.

Thereafter the author moves on to discussing the beginning of the movement of Tabligh. Amazingly, in such poor circumstances such good efforts were made. It was a small, poor village, Mewat, in which this great movement began after being inspired during his 2nd pilgrimage. It comes to show how far a person can go with dedication.

In this small biography the author has brought to light everything one want to know about the life and character of Maulana, his sterling qualities of head and heart, as well as development of the Tabligh Jamat in its initial stages.

In the words of the English translator, Dr Asid Kidwai, the aim of the author has been “to stir the Muslims into an appreciation of Islam's glorious role in the story of human progress, and to promote in them, thereby, a desire to look to themselves, with a view to finding out how far they have been true to their duty and mission to the world."

A must for all those involved in Islamic efforts as true appreciation will only be found when the knowledge of the past is known.
