Name of Book: Good Character

Author: Dr. Ismail Mangera

Publisher: Young Men’s Muslim Association

Edition: 1985

Number of Pages: 84

In its introduction, the author aptly states, “Good character is desired by everyone.”

The entire life of our beloved Nabi [sallallahu alayhi wasallam] is entrenched and firmly rooted in the teachings of good character. Allah Ta’ala reiterates the position of Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) in the most majestic words: “Indeed he is exalted in character.”

This book is divided into four sections: the first three relate to character and the fourth section introduces one on the part of Tariqat under the guidance of a pious person.

The book enjoys a distinctive feature, which is rarely seen in other publications – each of the characteristics discussed is explained in the following sequence: definition, danger and consequence, prevention and treatment. This simplifies the understanding of each chapter and makes reading much easier.
