Qunoot-e-Naazilah It is narrated in authentic Ahadith that when ever the Muslim community were faced with any severe difficulty, Nabi (S.A.W) used to recite the Dua-e-Qunoot in the Salaah for the protection of the Muslim community. It is mentioned in Sharh-e-Munya that it remains Sunnat even up till now. In Durr-e-Mukhtar and Shami it is mentioned that the Qunoot-e-Naazila is Mustahab at the time of every public difficulty and general epidemic. The dua and the manner of its recital, together with the laws will be cited below- This Dua is not a continuous Sunnat, rather it is only recited when there is a severe public epidemic/difficulty and when it is removed, the recital should be terminated. (Zaadul Ma'aad & Shami) It is Mustahab to recite the Dua in the Fajr Salah according to the majority of the Hanafi scholars. According to some of them it is Mustahab in the Maghrib and Isha Salaah. Some are of the opinion that it cannot be recited at all. (Durr e mukhtar, Shami, Sharhe Munya, Bahr, Ashbaah) To recite Qunoot in the Zuhr and Asr Salah is not prescribed by any of the Hanafi scholars and neither by the majority of the Imaams. The Imaam should recite the Qunoot aloud in the second rakat of the Fajr salah, after the Ruku. The followers should say Amin softly at the end of every sentence of the Dua. (Shaami, Maraqil Falah). Likewise it is also reported by Hazrat Abu Hurairah (R.A.) in Bukhari Shareef that Qunoot should be recited after Ruku and it is also clearly mentioned that it should be recited aloud. The Qunoot-e-Naazila is similar to Qunoot-e-Witr in that the hands should not be lifted, but left on the sides. -Hazrat Mufti Shafi Saheb (A). Translation :- O, Allah, guide us aright along with those who have been rightly guided and grant us safety along with those that have been granted safety and support us along with those that have been supported and add Your Blessings to what You have given us and save us from the harmful effects of what You have ordained ( i.e. lest I should be wanting in cheerfully submitting to your Decrees) as You alone disposes and no one can dispose against You. Anyone who is under Your Protection cannot be lowered and anyone who is opposed by You cannot gain dignity; our Lord; You are full of blessings and Most High, we beg forgiveness from You and repent before You and may the blessings of Allah be showered on the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). O Allah, forgive us and the believing men and women and Muslim men and women, unite their hearts with mutual love, set right their mutual affairs and help them against theirs and Your enemy. O Allah, let Your curse be on those unbelievers who prevent people from treading Your path, who reject Your prophets and fight Your chosen ones. O Allah, make difficult their plans, shake their feet and give them such punishment which is not turned away from a sinning people. Aameen
