Zamzam Pumping Temporarily Halted JEDDAH, 14 January 2008 — Pumping of water from Zamzam well inside the Grand Mosque in Makkah will be stopped for two weeks in order to conduct studies by the Saudi Geological Survey. But the measure will not affect Zamzam water supply in the two holy mosques, an official statement said. “We have stored adequate amount of Zamzam water in huge containers to meet the needs of the two holy mosques,” said Aifan Al-Jeaid, director of the Zamzam water Distribution Department. He said Zamzam water supply centers in Gaza and Bab Al-Fateh would be closed during the period. “We found this time suitable for the closure as most pilgrims have already left Makkah after performing Haj and water consumption will be less during winter,” he explained.
