Name: Huzaifah
Parents: Hazrat Huzaifah's (R) father's name was Husail and his title was Yaman.
His mother was from the tribe of Banu Abdil Ash Hal
Title: Abu Abdillah & Sahibu Sirri Rasulillah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) i.e. secret keeper of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)
Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) entrusted Hazrat Huzaifah (R) with the list of hypocrites and of the trials that will emerge before Qiyamah. Hazrat Huzaifah (R) was a great Mujahid who played a pivotal role in the conquest of Hamdan and other areas. He was appointed by Hazrat Umar (R) as the governor of Madaain. According to some narrations he passed away there and was buried there. According to other narrations he was buried in Jannatul Baqi in Madinah Munawwarah. He passed away in 36 A.H. approximately 40 days after Hazrat Uthman(R) was martyred. He has narrated 225 Ahadith.
Virtues
Hazrat Huzaifah ibn Yaman (R) says, “My mother asked me, 'When last did you visit Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)?' I replied, 'I haven't visited him (for quite some time) 'She rebuked me, so I said, 'I will go and offer Salah behind him and will ask him to seek forgiveness on our behalf.'
Hazrat Huzaifah (R) says, 'I went and performed Maghrib Salah behind him. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then offered (optional Salah) till Esha. After Esha he proceeded and I followed him. He heard my voice and asked, 'Who is this? 'Huzaifah.' I replied 'Yes'. Nabi r said, 'What brings you here'? 'May Allah forgive you and your mother.' (Tirmizi)
Hazrat Huzaifah (R) narrates that the people asked Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), “Why don't you appoint a Khalifah (successor)?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied, “If I appoint someone and you disobey him you will be punished. However, whatever Huzaifah narrates to you then accept it…” (Tirmizi)
