When INJUSTICE prevails & HUMAN RIGHTS are trampled!

Verily Allah orders you to act with justice & compassion and to do good to relatives & forbids shameless acts, evil deeds & transgression (Surah Nahl – Verse 90)

The sanctity of the life, dignity, property and blood of every individual is something which all humans generally subscribe to. Every human is equal in the sight of Allah Ta’ala by virtue of him or her being a member of the human race. Beyond this very fundamental right to life, every human should enjoy the right to respect, the right to justice, and the right to freedom.
The reality in the world today is that these very basic human rights are violated and many people around the world face oppression such as unlawful detention, torture and killing.

Who will champion the rights of the oppressed, the deprived, orphans, widows, women, children, the elderly and the downtrodden? At least on an individual level every Muslim can uphold Human Rights by giving respect, honour and protection and displaying compassion to all. A simple smile, little charity, good counsel and fair conduct could go a long way in changing a person’s perspective of life and faith in humanity. The basic rights of looking after kith and kin, tending to the ill, concern for the less privileged and the sheer willingness to give hope in adversity are small steps that can be taken to uplift humanity from the suffering that prevails.

Evil prevails when good people do nothing and injustice exists only because people don’t stand up against injustice. If we cannot help, the least we could do is not to hurt or harm.
