‘Drug Awareness Drive’ in Empangeni & Richards Bay

The ‘Drug Awareness Drive’ (‘DAD’), an initiative of Darul Ihsan Centre presented a series of educational programmes on drug and substance abuse in Empangeni and Richards Bay on Friday, 03 November 2017
The ‘DAD’ team representing Darul Ihsan Centre comprised three senior Ulama viz., Maulana Zakaria Murchie, a drug and substance abuse researcher and specialist, Maulana Mohamed Ameer, a counsellor and Maulana Abdul Haq Badat, a pharmacist.

All three Ulama delivered presentations to educators at the Empangeni Muslim School. Maulana Murchie focused on the harsh realities of drug and substance abuse in our society and Maulana Ameer focused on the destructive impact of this scourge on our families and communities. Jumuah talks were delivered by the Ulama at the Empangeni and Richards Bay Masajid.

Later that afternoon, two separate programmes were conducted for the benefit of the mothers and sisters in the respective areas. The main programme was held after Maghrib Salah at the Empangeni Madrasah Hall.
The programme was interactive with a slide presentation, video clips, Q & A session and the dissemination of literature.

‘DAD’ thanks the Ulama and community members of Empangeni and Richards Bay for their hospitality and coordination of an initiative which is at the heart of many. The feedback received was encouraging.
May Allah Ta’ala accept this humble effort, make it easy for those whose lives are affected by the incidence of drug and substance abuse and protect our families and the Ummah.
