DHC in joint food relief on Mandela Day

On Mandela Day, which is commemorated annually on 18 July, the Outreach Team of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre visited and provided food relief to a host of people.

A total of 2,450 sandwiches were distributed to patients at the Newlands East and Newlands West clinics, to children at the Uphethele Creche in Reservoir Hills and to residents at the Mallacca Road, Avoca and Banana City informal settlements.

The outreach was undertaken in conjunction with the Unilever Corporation as gesture of goodwill and in solidarity with the underprivileged.

In the spirit of service and solidarity, Newlands East SAPS staff members assisted the Outreach Team in distributing sandwiches at both clinics in Newlands.

Ms Phumzile Nxumalo and Ms Trisha Govender, the respective managers of the Newlands West and Newlands East clinics, SAPS Warrant Officer Lalman, Ms Thembi Duze, supervisor of the Uphethele Creche and Ms Susan Mbili, representative of the Malacca Road informal settlement rendered their assistance in distributing the sandwiches and also expressed their most sincere appreciation for the joint outreach.

These relief outreaches are made possible through the generous contributions and ongoing support of the Muslim community and partnerships.
