Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre’s Outreach Team - together with many volunteers - in its humanitarian operation over the weekend provided a total of 2295 hot meals and fresh fruit for residents of informal settlements and the underprivileged in the following areas:
On Saturday, 03 March 2018:
410 meals were distributed to residents of the ‘Transit Camp Informal Settlement’ in Isipingo.
The Team was received by Mrs Zandile Shozi and Mr Terrence Naidoo who oversaw the distribution of meals with much appreciation to the Centre.
670 meals were distributed to the underprivileged residents in the Malgazi area through the supervision of Mrs Reshika Alwar who expressed her most sincere thanks to the Centre for the gesture.
On Sunday, 04 March 2018:
675 meals - including fresh fruit - were distributed to residents of the Cocobar Informal Settlement in Chatsworth through the kind supervision of Apa Aswitha Hassan.
270 meals were distributed to residents of the Manyeleni Informal Settlement in Bayview, Chatsworth.
Miss Thandeka Dube - committee member of the settlement - coordinated the distribution of the meals with deep appreciation to the Centre.
In Welbedacht East 270 meals – with fresh fruit – were distributed amongst the underprivileged and the indigent. Apa Shenaaz Syedhan received the Team and facilitated in the distribution of the meals and fruit.
All meals and fruit distributed in this outreach were done efficiently and expediently to avoid discomfort to all in view of the high summer temperature.
Many who received meals and fruit expressed their deepest appreciation to members of the Team and volunteers. Many stated that they hadn’t partaken of a nourishing meal in days.
The Team expresses its thanks and appreciation to all our volunteers who sacrificed their family time to serve for the good of humanity.
