A fire incident at an informal settlement in Cato Crest, Mayville - just after midnight on Friday 01 November 2019 - resulted in the tragic death of two residents and a resident who was hospitalised with third degree burns.

Early on Saturday morning the Head of the Relief Team of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre was contacted by Mr Zamani Mtshali, liaison officer, and by Themba Mdalose, field officer of Ethekwini Disaster Management to provide blankets for all those affected by the fire incident.

At least 25 dwellings were razed to the ground with almost 50 residents left without homes.

By 2:00 PM the Relief Team delivered blankets to the beleaguered residents.

Mr Zamani Mtshali, Themba Mdalose and many affected residents expressed their sincere thanks to the DHC Team for the blankets.
