Taxi industry’s new targets

The article “Taxi industry’s new targets,” Business Report Monday, 10 July 2017 refers.

There seems to be confusion of what is expected by the taxi industry and what is presented by the corporate world in terms of the taxi industry’s “next phases of its rolling mass protest action.”

The extent of the disruption caused by the taxi industry has a direct and negative impact on the economy and the public it commutes.
While it is understandable that the taxi industry - en bloc - is liable to benefit as a mass purchaser of fuel for public transport, it seems that there is no modus operandi - certainly from the government’s point of view.

In these trying economic times, particularly in terms of South Africa’s declining international ranking, the taxi industry, the corporate world aligned to it and government needs to find an expedient solution to prevent further disruption in our society.
