Technology is one of the main themes at this year’s 21st annual Fair to be held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre. The Fair is one of the premier events organised by eThekwini Municipality, aimed at providing a platform for local businesses to showcase their goods and services, encourage networking and hosting discussions related to the industry.
Phillip Sithole, Deputy City Manager for Economic Development and Planning said: “The techno zone will be highly interactive as it will showcase new technologies and introduce people to new thinking and concepts.”
Hosted by Innovate Durban, the techno zone will feature virtual reality and 3D printing as some of the latest technologies on show. Sithole said technology plays a key role in shaping businesses, adding that panel discussions will focus on the impact of technology on businesses stemming from the fourth industrial revolution.
As part of stimulating youth led businesses, eThekwini Municipality’s Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit in partnership with Innovate Durban will be hosting the “Youth Connect Business Competition” at the Fair. Aimed at youth innovators, entrepreneurs and start-ups.
Participants must represent businesses that are at least two years or older, within eThekwini and must demonstrate innovation in the product or service.
