Walking in front of a Musallee

People should be alert at all times when walking in the Masjid so as not to cross the path of a person performing Salaah.

Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) expressed severe warnings in this regard as expounded in the following Ahadeeth:

“If a person who crosses in front of a Musallee (one performing Salaah) knew the sin befalling him, then waiting for 40..... would be better for him than crossing in front of a Musallee.”

Abu Nadar (RA), one of the narrators of this Hadith says: “I do not know if Nabi e said 40 days, months or years.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

Nabi e has also mentioned: “If anyone of you knew what it is to walk in front of a person whilst engaged (in Salaah), then it would be better to stand at that spot without taking a step ahead.” (Ibn Majah)

1) Next time – don't be in a hurry ! Be patient and wait for a few minutes before walking in front of a Musallee.

2) Those Musallees who intend to read long Salaahs should move to the front of the Masjid or behind a pillar, and not block or obstruct the path of those who wish to leave early.
