This announcement took place at the African Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town earlier this week, highlighting the country's project planning turning into positive implementation.

The President stated, “This is an important milestone… By designating these as priorities, government and its partners now have a mechanism to help the remaining five projects reach final investment decision, construction and production. A second wave of projects will follow, bringing further credible projects into the portfolio.”

Expected to begin construction in the first quarter of 2027, Phelan Green Group electro-Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Saldanha Bay is leading the nation's first wave of hydrogen projects.
