Hazrat Khalid ibn Waleed (R)

Khalid ibn Waleed (R) passed away in 21 A.H. He was known to be one of the greatest generals of Islam. In the battle of Mutah he broke 9 swords.

The title of Saifullah (Sword of Allah)

Wahshi Ibn Harb (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) narrated that when Abu Bakr Siddiq (R) handed over the banner to Khalid Ibn Waleed (R) to fight the apostates, he said, “I heard Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) say, ‘Excellent is Allah’s slave and our brother, Khalid Ibn Waleed (R) a sword of the swords of Allah that Allah has drawn from its scabbard against the Kuffar and the Munafiqeen’.  (Musnad Ahmad)

Hazrat Anas (R) narrates Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) praised Hazrat Zayd ibn Harithah, Hazrat Ja’far and Hazrat Abdullah ibn Rawahah (R) on the occasion of Mutah. Then news came, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Zayd took the flag and was martyred. Ja’far then took the flag and was martyred. Ibn Rawahah took the flag and also became martyred. Then with his eyes tearing Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “A sword from among the swords of Allah has taken the flag and Allah has granted them victory. (Bukhari)
