Names
There is difference of opinion among historians regarding her name. Historians have recorded five different names: Sahlah, Ramlah, Mulaikah, Ghumaisah and Rumaisah.
Marriage
Hazrat Umm Sulaym (RA) was married to Malik ibn Nadr. Hazrat Anas (R), the personal attendant of Nabi r, was born from this union. As a result of her accepting Islam Malik ibn Nadr left the marriage and died without embracing Islam.
Thereafter, Hazrat Abu Talha (R) proposed for her while he was not yet a Muslim. Hazrat Umm Sulaym (RA) declined his proposal and invited him to embrace Islam. Upon him embracing Islam she said to him, "I will marry you and I will not take any Mahr (dower) besides your accepting Islam." The Nikah was thus formalized between the two. A large amount of people narrated Hadith from Hazrat Umm Sulaym (RA).
Virtues
Hazrat Jabir (R) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “I was shown Jannah and therein I saw the wife of Abu Talhah (R), Hazrat Umm Sulaym (RA) and I heard footsteps before me and it was the footsteps of Bilal (R) (Muslim)
