Hazrat Uthman bin Maz'oon (Radiyallahu Anhu)

Name: Uthman bin Maz'oon Al Jumahi Al Qurashi

Title: Abu Saaib

Uthman bin Maz'oon was one of the early companions. He was from the tribe of Quraysh, specifically from the clan of Jumah. Uthman bin Maz'oon was among the earliest reverts to Islam and played a significant role in the early Muslim community.

Like many early Muslims, Uthman bin Maz'oon faced persecution and hardship in Makkah due to his adherence to Islam. He endured social ostracism, economic difficulty, and physical torture along with other early Muslims.
Migration: Uthman bin Maz'oon was among the Muslims who migrated to Abyssinia (Ethiopia) seeking refuge from persecution in Makkah Mukarramah. The migration to Abyssinia took place twice, once in the early days of Islam and later during a period of intensified persecution by the Quraysh. He eventually returned to Makkah Mukarramah after the conditions for Muslims improved with influential figures like Hamza bin Abdul-Muttalib (RA) and Umar (RA) entering Islam.

Uthman bin Maz'oon actively participated in the early Muslim community, supporting and spreading the message of Islam alongside Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and other companions. He was known for his piety, devotion, and loyalty to Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

Virtues: Hazrat Aisha (Radiyallahu Anha) narrates that Nabi (ﷺ) kissed Hazrat Uthman bin Maz'oon (Radiyallahu Anhu) after he passed away (on his cheek), whilst Rasulullah (ﷺ) was tearing. (Tirmizi, Abu Dawood, ibn Majah)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (Radiyallahu Anhuma) narrates that when one of the daughters of Nabi (ﷺ) passed away he (ﷺ) said, “Join up with our pious predecessor Hazrat Uthman bin Maz'oon (Radiyallahu Anhu).” (Musnad Ahmad)

Demise: Uthman bin Maz'oon was the first of the Muhajireen to pass away in Madinah Munawwarah, during the lifetime of Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). He passed away in Sha’ban 30 months after Hijrah (in 3 A.H.) and was buried in Jannatul Baqi. He was a great worshipper, among the most virtuous of the Sahabah (Radiyallahu Anhum).

Uthman bin Maz'oon's life exemplifies the sacrifices and struggles of early Muslims in the cause of Islam, and his devotion to the faith serves as an inspiration for believers throughout history.
