Municipal teams in the province have been on high alert, providing affected residents with temporary housing in community halls, alongside blankets and meals.

Other parts of the country have also been hit by heavy rainfall, including the Garden Route and parts of the Central Karoo in the Western Cape. From data presented by the South African Weather Service (SAWS), across the Central Karoo, 50-100 mm of rainfall has been recorded, whereas the eastern Garden Route areas have seen up to 200 mm of rainfall.
