Q: I would like to ask the ruling on keeping dogs as pets as well as playing with them

A: It is not permissible to keep dogs as pets. However, if dogs are required for security purposes then it will be permissible to keep them, train them and care for them. In this regard, be cautious about cleanliness, purity and becoming overly attached to them, as one would do with a pet.
